Overview
Random Picker decides things on your phone, not on a server. The names you type, the lists you save and the results you get never leave the device. What does leave the device is the ordinary machinery of a free app: advertising, crash reports and usage analytics. This page is specific about both halves.
TL;DR: Your lists and results stay on your device. The free version shows ads, and the app asks whether it may use your advertising identifier — say no and the ads become non-personalised rather than disappearing. Anonymous usage and crash data go to Firebase. No account, no email, no location.
What Stays on Your Device
These never reach us, and there is no cloud copy of them anywhere:
- The lists you create and the names, options or entries inside them.
- Colours, weights and any per-item settings you assign.
- Results, history and anything a mode produced for you.
- App preferences — language, sound, theme, reminder settings.
They live in local storage inside the app's own sandbox. Deleting the app deletes them, and because there is no backup on our side we cannot recover them for you.
Advertising
The free version of Random Picker shows ads through Google AdMob: banners, occasional full-screen ads, and rewarded ads you choose to watch in exchange for unlocking a Pro mode for a run. Buying Random Picker Pro removes the banner and full-screen ads.
On iOS the app asks for permission to use your device's advertising identifier through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. This is a real choice:
- Allow — AdMob may use the identifier to show ads targeted to you.
- Ask App Not to Track — the identifier is not made available, and you get non-personalised ads instead. Nothing else about the app changes, and no feature is withheld.
You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Ads are served by Google, whose handling of ad data is described in Google's advertising policies.
Analytics and Crash Reports
The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics so we can see which modes get used and why the app crashed when it did. Collected:
- Usage events — which screens are opened, which modes are run, which purchases and rewarded ads happen.
- Crash reports — stack traces, app version, OS version, device model.
- Technical data Firebase attaches to these, including an app instance identifier, approximate (country-level) region and language.
What is never sent: the contents of your lists. We can see that a wheel was spun; we cannot see what was written on it.
The app also uses Firebase Remote Config to change settings such as which modes are free without shipping an update. It sends no personal data — it fetches configuration.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold by Apple and their state is managed through RevenueCat, which tells the app whether Pro is active and lets you restore an earlier purchase. Apple handles the payment; we never see or store your card details. RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt and a pseudonymous identifier for your installation.
Notifications
If you turn reminders on, the app schedules them locally on your device. No notification is pushed from a server, and no notification content is sent anywhere. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
What We Do Not Collect
- No account, no sign-up, no email address, no password.
- No location — the app never requests location access.
- No contacts, no calendar, no health data.
- No list contents, ever.
Service Providers
- Google AdMob — serves the ads.
- Google Firebase — analytics, crash reporting and remote configuration.
- RevenueCat — subscription state and purchase restoration.
- Apple — App Store distribution and payment.
Children's Privacy
Random Picker is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
- Refuse or withdraw tracking consent in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Buy Pro to remove banner and full-screen ads.
- Delete lists inside the app, or uninstall it to remove all local data.
- Write to us to ask what we hold and to have it deleted.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the update appears here with a new "last updated" date and is announced in the app's release notes.
